TSMC justifies 'brutal culture' by labeling employees as robots

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) has come under fire after labeling its employees as 'robots' in order to justify the company's 'brutal culture.' According to sources, TSMC executives claim that the label is accurate due to the fact that their workers are expected to operate at maximum efficiency without showing any signs of emotion or personal needs.
Critics have argued that this labeling is dehumanizing and disrespectful to the hardworking employees who make TSMC one of the most successful semiconductor manufacturers in the world. Some have even gone so far as to suggest that the company's executives are trying to deflect blame for a toxic workplace culture that has led to high levels of employee burnout and turnover.
In response to the criticism, TSMC CEO C.C. Wei defended the company's practices, stating that 'our employees are our greatest asset, and we are committed to nurturing a culture that supports their growth and development.' However, many remain skeptical of these claims, pointing to a string of recent scandals involving mistreatment of workers at other high-tech firms.
While TSMC's 'robot' label has sparked outrage among some observers, others have taken a more humorous approach. 'I guess I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one who feels like a robot at work,' quipped one anonymous TSMC engineer. Another joked that 'if TSMC is going to treat us like robots, they should at least give us cool laser guns and rocket boosters.' Despite the levity of these comments, however, the underlying issues at TSMC are no laughing matter. As the company continues to grow and expand, it will no doubt face increasing scrutiny over its treatment of employees.
